The National Cathedral is considered as the official seat of the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church and the Diocese of Episcopal in USA. Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation built the national cathedral. The construction of the cathedral began in the year 1907 and it lasted for 83 years. The Episcopal Cathedral Foundation operates and funds the cathedral and it does not receive any government or local funding.
The National Cathedral is located at the intersection of Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues in Washington’s Northwest quadrant. It is the sixth largest cathedral in the world and second largest in United States. At present Samuel T. Lloyd III, is the dean of the cathedral. He took charge of office on 23rd April 2005.
